BlackBerry has rejected the recent BBM rumors about confirmed reports of releasing BBM iOS and Android app on June 27 2013.
Publicly announced at BlackBerry Live, BBM iOS and Android apps are confirmed for launch soon, with the T-Mobile UK Twitter feed claiming:
“Great news – BlackBerry Messenger will be available to download on iOS and Android from June 27th!”
A recent tweet from T-Mobile UK, confirmed that BBM is just one step away from non blackberry venture, stating that on 27th June the world would witness this. Reportedly, the official from BlackBerry replied – “this is not accurate.”
Responding to this, a top BlackBerry Executive has stated: “On May 14th, BlackBerry announced plans to make its ground-breaking mobile social network, BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), available to iOS and Android users this summer, subject to approval by the Apple App Store and Google Play. While there have been reports that BBM will be available to iOS and Android on June 27th, this is not accurate. We will communicate an update as soon as we have an availability date to share.”
Having such statements from BB officials, we are now sure that we won’t have the most successful messenger app on our iOS or Android powered Smartphones this June. We are still excited to see how BB adapts to these platforms and takes on current giants like Whatsapp, Hike, Chat On’s of the world.
Though there is a bad news for the iPad owners as BBM App is confirmed to be unavailable for the iPad users for now. Skeptical about iPad mini, there are still no updates from BlackBerry’s Desk.
iPad compatibility might have a match in coming future, but BlackBerry is affirmative on smartphones being the priority as of now. The arrival of BBM on Android and iOS means they would clearly have a heads on with Whatsapp, iMessage & Google+ Hangout etc.
