Xiaomi Redmi 1S coming soon to compete with Moto E in India

After successful launch and stock shortage of Xiaomi Mi3, we’ve again got something new to talk about the Apple of China. The buzzing company is all set to reveal a new smartphone Redmi 1S on August 26, 2014. Press invites for this event have already been sent out and according to them Global VP of Xiaomi Mr. Hugo Barra will also be present at the launch event.

Redmi 1S was first announced for China in May. Three months later it’s making its way to India. This dual SIM standby smartphone features a 4.7-inch IPS LCD display with resolution of 720×1280  pixels and 312 ppi. The Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection of the display provides a premium look and feel to the smartphone. Given below is the full list of features:

Like Mi3, Redmi 1S also runs on MIUIv5, the highly customized version of Android designed by Xiaomi for its devices. Technically it’s Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and it weighs just 158 grams.

It’s also known that this smartphone will be launched at a price of Rs. 6,999. Looking at the price we can say with certainty that Redmi 1S is the most decent phone that one can get for such price. With this highly competitive price tag it may give serious competition to Moto E and various other smartphones available in India.

In terms of features this device is already two steps ahead of Moto E and even Moto G. If Flipkart and Xiaomi don’t make a mess of things again then this smartphone can easily attract the same enthusiastic response that Mi3 got after the launch. In case you missed one of our old stories we would like to tell you that Xiaomi has been panned by the unsatisfied buyers for  scarce availability of phone even after the strong demand. This has also lead to the black marketing of Mi3 on eBay and OLX.

If company follows the current pattern then Redmi 1S may hit the availability status within one week. So we can expect to see it available by September 2, 2014.

Next launch that we can expect from Xiaomi camp is Redmi Note, which will be priced at Rs. 9,999. However, there’s no word so far about the launch from company’s side. With several powerful and stylish devices priced in a highly competitive manner, Xiaomi looks all set to take on the Indian smartphone vendors who are dominating country’s mobile market. Lookout Micromax, Karbonn and Lava; a Chinese hurricane is approaching you!

P.S: On August 26, 2014 company will also put up another flash sale for new stock of Mi3 on Flipkart. Company has received over 100,000 registrations so far; so be prepared if you want to grab it this time!
