Lenovo launches A6000 at CES 2015, will compete against Micromax Yu

Seems like Lenovo is all set to hit the competition hard at this year’s CES with several amazing devices in its arsenal. The company is already enjoying the success of Vibe 2 and to take it a step further they revealed Vibe 2 Pro at CES 2015; but the saga doesn’t end there. This time Lenovo is set to take on Yu and Xiaomi with its A6000 smartphone, which is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor based smartphone priced at $169. The Indian pricing of this new handset hasn’t yet been revealed, but it won’t be surprising if it’s launched for less than 8000 INR to give some serious competition to Xiaomi and Yu.

The smartphone is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor (64-bit), 1GB of RAM and 5-inch HD display with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. The phone also has 8GB of internal memory, 8MP primary camera (with LED flash), 2MP secondary camera, Android 4.4 KitKat OS with Vibe UI 2.0 and 4G LTE support. To keep the phone running there’s a 2300 mAh battery under the hood. The specs may not seem too spectacular, but if it comes for less than Rs. 8000 in India then it’ll certainly steal the show from Yu and Xiaomi. Plus, it may also become the cheapest 4G LTE capable Android smartphone launched in India till now. As of today Microsoft Lumia 638 holds the crown of most affordable 4G smartphone. However, it’s powered by Windows 8.1 and not by Android. According to company, Lenovo A6000 is primarily aimed at Indian market where company is going to launch it in partnership with Flipkart.

Due to unexpected growth of Indian smartphone market, India has become the primary battlefield for major as well as smaller smartphone manufacturers. The introduction of major ventures such as Android One proves that even the big guys are now interested in cashing the opportunity of Indian smartphone market. In such an environment it can be expected that the simmering pricing war between these players will continue for long. As a result, smartphone buyers may enjoy the availability of a whole lot of choices in the market; especially in the budget smartphone segment. Lenovo A6000 is expected to be launched here before the end of January and company has stated that minor changes in specifications and pricing may take place before it’s launched. We’ll update you about the launching as it happens.
