Xiaomi today announced launch of Redmi 2 and Mi Pad in Indian market which is set to cost Rs 6999 and Rs 12999 respectively. At a press event in New Delhi, company announced these two devices which have been priced very competitively. The company has already launched these two devices in Chinese market and as always, both were popular hit in market.
Talking about the phone first, it is successor to last generation Redmi 1S. It will follow that same flash sale model through Flipkart and it will be up for its first sale from 24th March, 2015. The registrations for first sale have already begun and you too can register yourself via this link.
Xiaomi Redmi 2 is packed with dual SIM slots and both these SIM cards are 4G connectivity supported (including 3G). It has got 4.7 inch display along with an 720 pixels resolution and dragontrail glass. The phone runs on 1.2 GHz qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad core processor, 1 GB RAM, Android 4.4.4 Kitkat and MIUI 6. Looking at the price segment in which it has been launched, it will give tough competition to second generation Moto E and Lenovo A6000. The company has also stated that the phone will be available in Airtel stores and other 4G markets in coming weeks. I’m not sure about how many week though I feel first couple of months would be used to catch the hype and hence it will be kept available online only. The enhanced version of Redmi 2 with 2GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage would also be coming in Indian market.
Moving on to the Xiaomi Mi Pad, it will also be available through flash sales from Feb 24th 2015. Xiaomi Mi Pad is company’s first tablet in Indian market (and perhaps in other markets as well).
