Lava launches Iris Alfa for Rs. 6550, runs on Android Kitkat

It has been quite some time since we saw anything new from Lava camp in the limelight of Android smartphone market. But finally it has changed today. Lava International has recently launched a new Iris series smartphone dubbed Iris Alfa, which is company’s latest addition to its existing lineup of budget smartphones. The new smartphone will certainly give some serious competition to many other budget smartphones like Moto E, Redmi 1S, Redmi 2 and Android One smartphones. It has been priced at Rs. 6,550 only, but still it is packed with a lot of exciting features, which make it yet another awesome value-for-money smartphone.

Lava Iris Alfa is powered by a 1.2Ghz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 5-inches large IPS display with a resolution of 850×480 pixels, 5MP primary camera, VGA front-facing camera, 8GB of internal memory and up to 32GB of expandable memory. The smartphone ships with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box and is expected to receive the Lollipop update by the end of the year. Connectivity options available in the device include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and USB OTG support while navigation sensor included is A-GPS. The 5MP primary camera is capable of capturing full-HD videos and also supports features like auto-focus and digital zoom. Finally, to keep all these things running there’s a 2,200 mAh battery, which company claims can provide talk time of more than 22 hours on 2G.

Coming to the content side, the phone comes pre-loaded with several useful apps including the Truecaller premium app and Adaptxt keyboard app, which supports typing in 11 Indian languages.You’ll also get free music downloads worth Rs. 2000 from Hungama Music App with the smartphone. It’ll be available for purchase on all major retail outlets around the country that sell Lava smartphones in Black and White colored variants. Commenting on the launch company’s Vice President & Head of Product team Navin Chawla said that Lava is launching this device with an aim to cater the needs of people who have the desire to own a smartphone with great looks and best in class features at affordable price. And indeed, the smartphone does an awesome job of providing all these things in the package.

Sometime ago Lava also launched its first Windows Phone OS based smartphone dubbed Iris Win 1 for Rs. 4,999, which had all the specs identical to Iris Alfa except for a smaller display that measured 4-inches in size.
