In the war of stretching display sizes of smartphones Google has gone too far. While Samsung is still staying at 5.7 inch in Galaxy Note 4 and Apple at 5.5 inch in iPhone 6 Plus, Google has stretched up to 6 inches in its next Nexus smartphone. Next Nexus from Google’s factory was announced yesterday which is manufactured by Motorola Mobility this time and it is expected to arrive in India soon (i.e., later in 2014). Motorola Mobility said that India will be among first 28 countries that will receive Nexus 6 later this year. So it’s great news for all of us since Nexus smartphones have had best hardware with best and latest version of Android OS. The exact Nexus 6 launch in India date isn’t known yet but its expected to arrive either in late November or starting December as it start its journey in America.
After the launch of Moto X 2nd generation, the design pattern of the nexus 6 was quite clear to everyone. After viewing press release pictures one can easily draw a conclusion that the Nexus 6 looks like a stretched version of Moto X (2nd gen) which was launched this year. The design is impressive and unique and no doubt it’s the best looking Nexus smartphone for Google till date.
Google Nexus 6 Specs Sheet
First major attraction is its massive 6 inch display while second is that it comes up with Android 5.0 Lollipop OS which features all new materialistic design. Other specs sheet details are as follow,
- 5.96 inch AMOLED display
- 1440×2560 pixels of Resolution
- Corning Gorilla Glass 3 Protection
- Snapdragon 805 Chipset
- Quad-core 2.7GHz processor
- Adreno 420 GPU
- 3GB RAM and 32/64GB Storage
- Android 5.0 Lollipop OS
- LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC
- GPS and Wireless Charging
- 13MP rear camera with dual-LED flash (ring)
- 2MP front camera
- Touch focus, auto focus, face detection, photo sphere, panorama, HDR and OIS
- Water resistant
- 184 gram weight
- 10.1mm thick
- 3220mAh battery
After going through Nexus 6 specs sheet the two things that disappointed me were just 2MP front camera and weight of 184 grams. While every new flagship is going with selfie trend housing at least 5MP camera, Motorola has limited it to just 2MP. Second thing is that it weighs 184 grams which is too much for a device of this age. Also it measures 10.1mm in thickness which isn’t an attractive feature but I can bet that it won’t bend at all (pun intended).
Coming to its CPU, it houses latest and best Snapdragon chipset along with 3GB of RAM and latest dedicated GPU. The storage part is also good but as always there is no micro SD card slot. Since its running latest Android 5.0 Lollipop, it will house all latest feature from Google’s side and since it belong to Nexus family expect pure Android user experience which would be above all.
