Gionee India has launched world’s thinnest smartphone in Indian market which has the thickness of just 5.5 mm. The device was first launched in the China during February, 2014 and it has been dubbed as Gionee Elife S5.5. Not to mention, this smartphone breaks the previous thickness record of 5.75 mm by Vivo X3.
It features a 5 inch 1080p display along with a pixel density of 441 ppi. The device is powered by 1.7 GHz octa-core processor and also includes a massive 2 GB RAM to keep the device fast. In addition to this, there’s a 16 GB internal storage that can come handy in installing apps and games. The company has claimed that the 2300 mAh powered battery is capable of delivering a full day battery backup.
Coming down to the photo taking abilities, the phone is packed with a 13 megapixel camera at the back and 5 megapixel shooter in the front. Considering the “selfies” trend in mind, this 5 megapixel shooter in the front can come handy in capturing good quality selfies. At the back, the lens is accompanied by an LED flash.
On the software front, the device runs on the Android 4.2 jelly bean and company’s Amigo UI. There’s no confirmation on whether the device will get Android 4.4 Kitkat update or not.
As far as price is concerned, the phone was launched in China for CNY 2299. The company has revealed that the phone will be priced at Rs 22999 which is quite close to the pricing in China. Stay tuned as we dig in more details from the launch event happening in Goa.
