Couple of days ago, Gionee launched world’s slimmest Android smartphone Elife S5.5 in India which is entitled to go on sale for the price tag of Rs 22999. As the name suggest, the thickness of this device measures at 5.5mm beating the previous record of 5.75mm. However, when it comes to comparing the price factor, there’s one competitor who has already released its smartphone in the market. The Micromax Canvas A350 Knight is retailing at the same price range and what’s interesting is its specifications which makes it compete Gionee Elife S5.5.
Gionee Elife S5.5 vs Micromax Canvas A350 Knight
Both Gionee Elife S5.5 and Micromax Canvas A350 Knight sports 5inch display with 1920×1080 pixels resolution along with 441 ppi. The difference that sets apart Gionee Elife S5.5 is the super AMOLED screen which is more brighter than the IPS panel of the Micromax Canvas A350. However, the difference hardly noticed when you hold two devices side by side. Therefore, I would call this test a tie.
Now a days, processing power, number of cores in the processor, the clock speed have significant impact while buying a new smartphone. The Gionee Elife S5.5 1.7 GHz octa-core processor which is slightly less than the clock speed of 2 GHz generated by eight cores of Micromax Canvas A350. Not to mention, both these devices are coupled with 2GB of RAM which would eventually give a better control over multi-tasking.
The higher clock speed of Micromax Canvas A350 Knight makes it a winner in terms of processing power.
Micromax Canvas A350 features a 16 megapixel primary shooter whereas the Gionee Elife S5.5 packs a simple 13 megapixel shooter. Both these cameras are accompanied by LED flash however the camera on Micromax A350 is coupled with OmniVision’s Camera Chip sensor. This will perhaps produce a better set of pictures than the Gionee Elife S5.5.
Apart from the rear facing camera, both smartphones comes up with an 8 megapixel shooter in front. Once again, they produce almost equal quality of the pictures.
Considering the rear facing camera(as front facing camera has equal megapixels) of these smartphones, I think Micromax A350 wins it all.
When it comes to the connectivity, both Micromax A350 and Gionee Elife S5.5 comes up with a standard set of connectivity options such as 3G, WiFi, WiFi hotspot, GPS/A-GPS. We are not quote sure about the Bluetooth version on the Gionee Elife S5.5 but the Micromax A350 has a Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.
Well, the Bluetooth connectivity can’t be a deciding factor in announcing a winner in this section and therefore we have another tie in connectivity section.
The Gionee Elife S5.5 has some advantage when it comes to comparing the memory. This smartphones has a 16 GB of internal storage available at your disposal which can further be expanded with the help of micro SD card. This is not the case with Micromax A350 as this device doesn’t have a micro SD card slot. However, it does comes up with a thumping 32 GB of internal storage.
Though 32 GB of internal storage of Micromax A350 might seem enough, its always good to have the option of expanding the memory with memory card. This makes Gionee Elife S5.5 slightly better than Micromax A350.
We don’t have a winner here. Why? That is because of the “almost” same battery power provided in these two devices. The Micromax A350 Canvas Knight has 2350 mAH battery pack whereas the Gionee Elife S5.5 has 2300 mAh battery pack which is almost equally good. Both these devices are expected to give a full day battery backup with moderate use.
Finally, it all comes down to the section that you’re interested in. If you’re a camera-holic person, you must choose the device with that preference. In the same manner, write down your requirements according to the priorities and see which one of them are fulfilled by the respective device.
Here’s the quick look at the specifications of these two smartphones.
