Welcome to the second part of Asus Zenfone 6 user review. Last time, I talked about how beautiful and well optimized user interface is. This time around, I have a lot to talk about camera. After using this device for almost seven days, I was able to get the feel of how camera has been performing throughout.
Now, I have been using Nexus 5 for almost a year now and this camera doesn’t come close to what Nexus 5 brings in but I must say that results were quite good. Let’s not compare the camera with high end devices because Zenfone 6 is being sold at just Rs 15999 and considering that, I must acknowledge its 13 megapixel camera.
The phone offers wide range of filters which are applicable for still photos as well as video recordings. The filters include gif animations, all smiles, smart remove. depth of field, night time photos, low light photos, beautification and selfie. I’m going to talk about these filters in detail with images wherever possible so that you will be able to get a fair idea of what these filters offer.
Let us cut the crap and talk about these filters in detail.
Asus Zenfone 6 – Camera Review
Depth of field
A depth of field was initially associated with the DSLR cameras but as the technology progressed, phones were announced with the feature of depth of field. I remember vividly about the dual camera phone HTC M7 which was first in lineup to use second camera to calculate depth of field and put results into the photos. Neverthless, Asus Zenfone 6 does excellent job of rendering depth of field in pictures. I was able to get the sample picture for same and you can definitely make out conclusion.
Yes, you read it right. Zenfone 6’s camera is capable of creating gif animations by capturing clicks in a burst mode. I was really impressed by how it generated a GIF image which was lag free. You might wanna take a look at this sampel gif which I was able to record while testing.
Here is the URL where you can check out this gif animated image.
Miniature is a filter by which you can focus on certain strip thereby blurring the other part of an image. I was new to this filter but as soon as I got hold of it, it seemed very useful and super-awesome.
As the name suggest, night filter is useful in capturing photos during night time. I was not able to get a sample picture for this filter but since I was testing it for almost seven days, I can put my honesh comments on this one. The night filter was little bit disappointing as the result weren’t close to my expectations but if you’re fine with average results, you can hold onto this for the moment.
Filters make images look gorgeous but it is also important for us to show how this camera performs when it comes to using it without any filters.
The image above shows results without any filters and according to my understanding, colors seems to be little dull. I was disappointed with these results as colors haven’t been produced up to the mark. However, if you are not gonna be stressing too much on normal usage, the camera is perfectly right. Also, I would suggest you to at least use HDR mode or Depth in Field mode to get better quality.
In addition to these extraordinary filters, Zenfone 6 has got some general filters which are fun to use. Given below is the list of filters and their respective results.
Asus Zenfone 6 – Other Camera Filters
This is it guys. I have tried recording a video sample and I might upload it in some days. As far as the quality of the video is concerned, it was mediocre and I was satisfied with that.
