Today Apple announced the availibility of iPhone 5C 8GB variant in UK and it is expected to make its appearance in the Asian market in coming days. With this launch, those people who were unable to increase there budget to buy 16GB model can opt for the 8GB model for the price of around 429 pounds. It roughly translates to the Rs 43000 however looking at the current price of 16 GB model in India, I’m expecting it to be somewhere around Rs 36000. Well, that is still high from my point of view and I would like to offer you bunch of options (from Android ecosystem) if you’re not really looking into getting an iOS device. So basically, if operating system isn’t the only thing that you’re looking while buying a new phone, you should probably checkout these options and compare yourself.
Android Phones to buy instead of iPhone 5C 8GB
I must admit that LG G2 is one of the finest Android smartphone available in the market. The 16 GB variant of the LG G2 is available for around the same price as that of expected price of iPhone 5C 8GB. What are the other things that you get with this package? Well, you’ll get a better resolution and bigger display than the iPhone 5C. Also, the 13 megapixel camera at the back has the capability of producing good quality pictures as that of iPhone 5C.

This little android flagship device by Google and LG is more than enough for all your needs. The Nexus 5 comes up in two storage models i.e., 16 GB and 32 GB. The 32 GB storage variant is available for around Rs 33000 on Google Play store and Rs 34000 on Flipkart and other sellers.
With the Nexus 5 in your pocket, you’ll be getting first hand experience on the all latest Android updates before everyone else. While the 8 megapixel camera isn’t that great, the aggressive pricing and performance offered by the hardware is spectacular. There’s one weakness in Nexus 5. The battery life is something that would keep you worried but with the moderate usage, I was able to get 15-18 hours of battery backup with single charge (and yes, I’m using this beast 🙂 ).
|Nexus 5 on Flipkart||Rs 29990 (16GB) / Rs 33990 (32GB)|
|Nexus 5 on Google Play Store||Rs 28999 (16GB) / Rs 32999 (32GB)|
There’s a price difference of around 1000 INR and I would like to talk a little about about the same. The devices sold via Google play store are directly being imported and sold by Google whereas the devices listed on online retailers as well as in the offline market are provided by LG. LG has decided to price it little bit higher than the play store price. One thing that you should note down is that Google play store doesn’t accept debit card payments. This means that you’ll either have to use credit card to make the purchase on play store or turn around and visit Fipkart to buy using other payment options such as Debit card, EMI, Net banking or cash on delivery.
Sony Xperia Z1 Compact
Both Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 Compact are practically the siblings and both of them are equally good when it comes to comparing them with iPhone 5C 8GB. The Xperia Z1 has been priced at Rs 40000 but that’s not the case in all markets. There are some markets where the phone has been priced aggressively. The Xperia Z1 Compact; the younger sibling of Z1 is being sold for Rs 34500 and it is perfect match to you if you want a camera as massive as 20.1 megapixel. In addition to this, your phone will be able to survive the water and dust without any issues.

Motorola Moto X
Flipkart has recently announced that they are going to start the orders for Moto X in India starting tomorrow and what’s more interesting is the fact that the device would cost only Rs 23999 for a 16 GB model. That is almost Rs 10000 less than the iPhone 5C 8GB model. Plus, you’ll also be having a direct access to your phone through voice commands even when the device is sleeping. An active display can be helpful to many as it throws notifications as they come.

Samsung Galaxy S4
It seems that the price of the Samsung Galaxy S4 has gown down after the announcement of Samsung Galaxy S5. Believe it or not but the device is now available for as low as Rs 29700. With this price point, it offers various software enhancements and hardware specs.

Would you buy any of these android phones instead of iPhone 5C 8 GB model? or would you rather stick to the iOS and get yourself an iPhone 5C 8 GB?
