The third largest telecom operator in United states has updated its support page stating that the Android 4.4.3 (Build KTU48F*) has been pushed for the Nexus 5 users. Although the sprint support page mentions only the build number on its page, many leading news sites have reported that the update is perhaps Android 4.4.3. This is quite amusing as Google generally updates its factory images page before sending out updates through the carriers or OTA.
As the update has been specifically released for the sprint Nexus 5 users, it has been aimed at addressing carrier specific issues. The change long consist of only two sentences which are mentioned below :
Android 4.4.3 Update (Sprint) Changelog
- Enable Sprint spark band 26 and band 41
- Misc Android updates
Previously, there were rumors about the update being bug fixes with no major UI changes and this seems to be in line with what sprint has mentioned in its change log. The misc Android updates here refers to the bug fixes such as camera bug, bluetooth and WiFi connectivity bug (and number of other bugs) which have been reported so far.
The sprint spark band 26 and band 41 are related to the LTE availability. The device is already employed with hardware support for tri-band LTE and this update enables the users to use the same on Sprint network.
If everything goes well, we might see download URL’s from Google to update Nexus 5 manually to the Android 4.4.3. Hang on tight as we try to get more information on this.
* Sprint has mistakenly updated build number to be KTU48F but it has come to my notice that the build number is actually KTU84F.
